One of the unlikeliest of teams in the Hawai’i College Basketball Summer League took home the championship in 2013. Wealth Strategy Partners defeated top seed Central Medical Clinic, 88-78, in the championship game of the Summer League on Saturday night at Maryknoll School Gym.
Just one month ago, Wealth Strategy Partners had a 1-4 record. However, it ended the Summer League with five consecutive victories, including three impressive wins in the playoffs.
“It was great,” former UH guard and Kamehameha Schools graduate Pi’i Minns said. “We had a good flow. We started off flat – we just had to contain Bill Amis, and it was real fun.”

Julian Sensley will savor this one.
Sensley was named the MVP of the 37th College Summer League championship game on Saturday night, when he scored 27 points for Wealth Strategy Partners in an 88-78 defeat of top-seeded Central Medical Clinic before a crowd of about 750 at Maryknoll.
In three playoff games, the former University of Hawaii standout averaged 29.3 points. Wealth Strategy, 5-5 in the regular season for the No. 3 seed, had to go through the top two seeds, Central Medical and Solar Universe, to win the title.

Several Warriors put up impressive numbers during the Summer League, but those numbers will not necessarily mean anything for the upcoming 2013-14 season. If anything, however, it showed that the Warriors will have a variety of options.
Five different UH players averaged better than 20 points per game for their respective Summer League teams: Garrett Nevels, Quincy Smith, Brandon Spearman, Aaron Valdes and Negus Webster-Chan.
