BYU–Hawaii end NCAA athletics program

BYU–Hawaii to transition out of intercollegiate athletics in three years
On March 28, 2014, the university announced that it will transition out of intercollegiate athletics after the 2016-2017 seasons. Meetings were held with coaches, athletics department staff, and student athletes, followed by a general public announcement.    [BYU-Hawaii Announcement]

Public school team: LaChae McColor (Moanalua), Carly Kakuda (Kalani), Sheastel Tiumalu (Castle), Mich’lae Higa (Aiea), Mikaela Limper (Mililani), Penina Faumui (Farrington), Tavae Sina Sofa (Roosevelt), Valerie Wilson (Kaimuki), Sarah Liva (Mililani) and Chantell Arce (Kaiser).
Coach is Patrick Basilio (Mililani).

The private school team: Cianna Ochoco (Maryknoll), Tiare Libarios-Moses (Sacred Hearts), Celina Pagan (Sacred Hearts), Alohi Robins-Hardy (Kamehameha), Maia Laboy (Maryknoll), Jade Botelho (‘Iolani), Siena Shupe (Maryknoll), Keau Fey (Punahou) and Kelly Kuchenbecker (Le Jardin).
Coach is Kevin Velasco (Punahou).

Senior Classic will be played at Moanalua High School on Sunday, Mar. 2. The girls game will tip off at 4:30 p.m. and a 3-point competition will be held at halftime.

Farrington Governors win the 2014 OIA Boys Basketball Championship

Grantco Pacific Coach, Allan Silva, is also the head basketball coach for the Farrington Governors.  Coach Silva lead the Governors to the Oahu Interscholastic Association Red Division title with a 68-49 win over the Campbel Sabers, at McKinley’s Student Council Gymnasium on February 13, 2014.
